Ranger Trainings
This is where you'll begin to learn the art of Rangering. All Rangers will need to attend a Ranger Training (yep, even you veterans). We will be using new training techniques and providing a whole bunch of new information.... it promises to be fun and educational.
Ranger Training begins at 10:00 am and ends around 6 pm (and includes a couple of breaks). Please bring a lunch, snacks and water in addition to whatever else you might need to be comfortable in the environments listed. Please plan on staying afterwards for socializing. Details on what to bring for a pot-luck dinner will appear on allcom as the date for your training draws near.
Let us know ASAP which Ranger Training you want to attend. We are trying to limit the size of the Ranger Trainings in order to have a more effective session so please include alternative dates if possible in case a particular session is too crowded, and also let us know if the date you've signed up for is the ONLY one you could possibly attend... and the sooner the better; you'll have a greater chance to attend the Ranger Training you wish...

On-Playa Training
All new ranger applicants must work a mentor shift on the playa, where they will be mentored and evaluated by two experienced rangers; only after they have been recommended for promotion to Ranger will they placed on active status as a Black Rock Ranger at Burning Man.

Getting a Ham Radio License is easier than ever. The American Radio Relay League can tell you all about it and lists licensing tests coming up in your area. To study for the test, try this book. The third edition (1997) still reflects the older, longer license test, but it's still a great way to study. And it can't hurt you to know more than you need to know!
